Ilorin Emirate Stakeholders Have a Collective Duty to Tackle the Menace of Drug Abuse - NDLEA Commander

The Kwara Commandant of the National Drug Laws Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mallam Muhammed Bashir, has urged stakeholders in the Ilorin Emirate to collectively rise up and tackle the alarming menace of drug abuse. He made this statement at the ongoing 2-day capacity building retreat for young leaders of youth development associations across the Kwara Central Senatorial District.

The retreat is being held at the Michael Imodu Institute of Labour Studies and has over 200 participants in attendance.

The event, organized by the Office of the Technical Adviser to Senator Saliu Mustapha on Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Job Creation, brings together leaders of ward youth development associations from across the KWARA Central Senatorial District for a Two-Day Capacity Building Retreat.

Under the theme "Dangers of and Solutions to Drug Abuse in Ilorin Emirate," the state commander, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir Ibrahim, highlighted the alarming statistic that 80% of individuals apprehended for substance abuse in Ilorin Emirate this year were aged between 14 and 40 years.

The program, a brainchild of Senator Saliu Mustapha's Technical Adviser, demonstrates a commitment to enhancing the capacities of young leaders in the region.

As the retreat unfolds, participants are expected to engage in discussions, workshops, and interactive sessions aimed at developing effective strategies to address and mitigate the dangers posed by drug abuse in the Ilorin Emirate.
