[UPDATE] Gang Leader Confesses in Rifun Assassination Attempt; Suspects Apprehended and Trial Proceedings Commence

In a shocking development, on the 27th of June 2023, an assassination attempt was made against Alhaji Abdulkadir Mustapha Rifun, also known as Haske Rifun, by members of the Patigi Emirates Youth Development Association, led by Hamza Ndawuya. Kwara Reporters News has been closely following the incident and has promised to provide regular updates to the public.

Immediately after the incident, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mustapha Rifun reported the attack to the security agencies, including the Office of the Inspector General (IG) in Abuja, the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja, and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Abuja. These agencies have assured their commitment to taking swift action and ensuring that all those responsible for the attempted assassination are brought to justice, regardless of their social status or influence.

In a major breakthrough, on the 24th of July 2023, the Kwara State Police Command summoned the gang leader, Hamza Ndawuya, for questioning, under the directive of the Inspector General of Police. To everyone's surprise, Hamza Ndawuya admitted to all the allegations during the interrogation. However, he maintained that the Emir of Patigi had no knowledge of the plot. Hamza Ndawuya also provided additional names of individuals present during the operation, leading to their subsequent invitation by the authorities. The suspects were immediately detained and held at the Police Headquarters in Ilorin before being charged to the Magistrate Court in Ilorin the following day, presided over by Magistrate Adam.

During the court proceedings, Magistrate Adam ordered the suspects to be remanded, but after numerous plea appeals, he granted them bail under certain conditions. The suspects' counsel assured the court that they would return the next day to fulfill the bail bond requirements. However, the suspects defied this arrangement and returned to Patigi, falsely claiming victory in the case. They organized a celebratory gathering, parading through the streets of Patigi, shouting that divine intervention had saved them from Alhaji Abdulkadir Mustapha Rifun's pursuit. They even hired drummers to glorify their actions, proclaiming themselves invincible warriors who could not be harmed by anyone.

On Thursday, the 27th of July, the suspects reluctantly came back to Ilorin to fulfill the bail conditions. Unfortunately for them, they failed to meet the requirements and were consequently remanded in custody until Friday, when they finally managed to meet the bail conditions. The case has been adjourned to the 21st of August 2023, for further proceedings and continued hearing.

The public eagerly awaits the outcome of this trial, as well as a definitive resolution to the attempted assassination of Alhaji Abdulkadir Mustapha Rifun. The justice system will have an essential role in bringing those responsible for such a heinous act to account, ensuring that no citizen's life can be disregarded or taken for granted. Kwara Reporters News remains committed to keeping the public informed about any developments in this critical case.
