"Gobir Expresses Condolences To Etsu Patigi And The Bereaved Families Of The Patigi Boat Mishap Victims"
Alhaji Waziri Yakubu Gobir, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Etsu Patigi and the families of the victims of the recent boat mishap in Patigi, Kwara State.
The tragic incident, which occurred on June 11, 2023, claimed the lives of several people who were on board a boat that capsized on the River Niger. The victims were said to be returning from a wedding ceremony when the accident happened.
In a statement released on Thursday, June 15, 2023, Alhaji Gobir described the incident as a great loss to the entire community and expressed his sympathy and support to the affected families.
"I am deeply saddened by the news of the boat mishap in Patigi and the loss of precious lives. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims during this difficult time," he said.

He praised the kwara state government for swiftly implementing new safety measures in water transportation, within a short timeframe, that will effectively prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
