Fatal Motor Accident Claims Seven Lives On Shao/Bode Saadu Expressway In Kwara
A tragic motor accident occurred on the 2nd of June, 2023, along the Shao/Bode Saadu Expressway in Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State, claiming the lives of seven people, including the driver of a Howo truck. The accident involved a Foton Auman truck, with registration number FKJ 844 XL (owned by KAM WIRE), and a Howo truck, with registration number KRV 440 ZL, driven by Umar Adamu of Kanbi Oloru, Kwara State.
The collision occurred when the Foton Auman truck owned by KAM WIRE, which was transporting roofing sheets from Ilorin towards the Jebba Area of Kwara State, attempted a dangerous overtaking maneuver at Km 41 on the Shao Oloru Expressway. The driver lost control and collided with the Howo truck, which was traveling in its lane.
The impact of the crash resulted in the instant death of the Howo truck driver, Umar Adamu, and six passengers: Peter Sunday, Wasiu Jimoh, Haruna Aliyu, Rabiu Ibrahim, Alibaba Gana, and Muhammed Gombadu. In addition, 28 other passengers sustained injuries and were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police detectives responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. The driver of the Foton Auman truck has been identified, but remains at large. The deceased victims were released to Umar Faruk, who works with C.G.C Nigeria Ltd, located at Km 30 on the Shao/Oloru Expressway in Oloru, Kwara State. The victims were buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
The authorities urge motorists to exercise caution and obey traffic rules to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring in the future.
