Armed Robbers Cart Away ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ Bags Filled With Dollars In Abeokuta


A four-man armed robbery gang on Friday struck the Oke-Sokori axis of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, carting away two Ghana-Must-Go bags reportedly filled with dollar notes.

According to DAILY POST the suspects, who were armed with riffles, also covered their faces with masks during the operation that lasted for about three minutes.

The suspects were said to have escaped the scene with the money stacked in the ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bags after ambushing the car of their victim, a Northern trader in a Toyota Venza, marked, ABC 565 GN.

Eyewitness account has it that the robbery suspects. at about 3:45pm, accosted the man in front of Fatgbems filling station at Oke-Sokori, where they stopped him and forcefully opened the car’s boot.

“They offloaded the two bags containing the foreign currency into their car and zoomed off with the victim’s car key,” a source identified as Oyefemi, told our correspondent.

It was gathered that the victim had earlier approached a commercial bank to deposit the money, but he was turned back on the premise that the bank had closed for the day.

The Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident to newsmen, saying the police were already on the trail of the armed men.

Oyeyemi said the command had immediately sent signal across the state to ensure that the suspects are tracked down, assuring that “we will get them.”
