Emergence Of Tinubu, Others Is Will Of God, Says PDP’s Onofiok

Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Judiciary, Luke Onofiok, has described the emergence of Senator Bola Tinubu as the President-elect in the just concluded elections as the will of God.

The Former Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), appealed that those who are seeking redress at the tribunal should not be shut away.

They should be given the chance to make their legitimate claims within the legal framework of the constitution, Onofiok said during Channels Television Sunrise Daily on Wednesday.

“I believe if it is not the will of God, we wouldn’t have had a conclusive election. We wouldn’t have had winners emerge at different spheres.

“I ran for the position of the governor of my state (Akwa Ibom) in the primaries of my party, I did everything I could do, I consulted the delegates, I canvassed, I campaigned. And at the end of it all, I did not emerge, and so, I saw it as the will of God.

“In that context, if God does not allow a thing to happen, it wouldn’t happen. When you do all that you have to do and then you still see a particular result on a particular thing, I believe that is the will of God,” he said.

The lawmaker urged that governors and senators who won the elections and have been issued certificates of return should be sworn in as it is God’s will.

“Senators have emerged winners at the National Assembly level in different parties. I believe that the emergence of the NNPP candidate, Abba Yusuf, Umo Eno in Akwa Ibom, Alex Otti in Abia State, Seyi Makinde in Oyo State, Caleb Mutfwang in Plateau State, Sim Fubara in Rivers State, Sanwo-Olu in Lagos State, Abdulaziz Yar’ Adua in Katsina is the will of God.

“I believe that within that context, it is the will of God that those people have been made in their respective capacities, in their respective positions that they contested for.

“Whether it’s an Ahmed Bola Tinubu as the President-elect, let us allow them to be sworn in. Let us follow what the Constitution provides. It is in that same, that I say that the emergence of Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu is the will of God.”

Onofiok stated that the outcome of the tribunal sittings would not be by sentiments but by the law, adding that the final judgement that will come from the judiciary in the tribunal hearings is the will of God.

He also noted that the judiciary has tested integrity, and a sense of responsibility, adding that they are heeding the yearnings of Nigerians.
