Why Ilorin West Should Not Occupy Kwara Central Seat Now - Ex-Council Boss

By Adedayo Said

A former Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government and Convener, Equity and Fairness Community Development Initiative (EFCODI), Hon. Abdul-Hameed Oladipupo Alli has lamented the dominance of the local government in producing the lawmaker representing Kwara Central in the Senate.

Alli, popularly known as Mr. Nigeria, stated this when the State Coordinator of Nigerian Intellectual Group in Kwara Central, Comrade Olubunmi Ajiboye, paid him a courtesy visit over the weekend.

The former council boss has, in the past months, argued that the Senate seat should be rotated among other local government areas that make up the district.

During the courtesy visit, he also expressed optimism that the people of Ilorin West Local Government will not find it difficult to concede the Kwara Central Senatorial Seat to their brothers from Ilorin East/ South Federal Constituency.

"Only Ilorin West/ Asa Federal Constituency has been producing Senators in the Senatorial District that belongs to the four Local Government Area Councils and the two Federal Constituencies for over 50 years now, since the first republic," he said.

Alli further stated that; "Ilorin West Local Government, has its foundation laid on Equity, Justice and Fairness and has in it, great people with good and kind hearted mind , who are brought up to respect brotherhood, friendship and healthy alliance amongst their other sister local government areas in Kwara Central. "

He also explained that his campaign is purely on community development and not in the interest of any candidate or party.

It should be noted that in the forthcoming Kwara Central Senatorial election, one of two major candidates, Bolaji Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hails from Ilorin West while his opponent, All Progressives Congress' (APC) Saliu Mustapha is from Ilorin East.
