A Kwara based private higher institution, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, has produced a total of 25 graduates with first class degrees across various disciplines.

The faith-based citadel of learning also convocated its first set of doctoral graduates at its 12th convocation ceremony which took place on Saturday, December 10, 2022.

Delivering his opening remark at the convocation ceremony, the varsity’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Noah Yusuf, said Al-Hikmah University recorded a total number of 1,280 graduands in the 2021/2022 academic session.

He further noted that 362 graduands have attained second class in the upper division, while 566 bagged second class in the lower division, as 94 graduated with third class category.

Yusuf stated that the university produced a total number of 1,047 first-degree graduates, 184 post-graduates, and 49 diploma holders in the outgoing academic year.

He also stressed that the minimal number of first-class graduates it currently produced is owing to that it doesn’t want to compromise its stringent academic activities and standard in order to churn out graduates that will be able to perform anywhere in the world, “the university holds firmly to its motto, ‘Learning for wisdom and Morality’.

“Our class of degrees is awarded without sacrificing academic excellence for numbers,” he added.

The vice chancellor, however, lamented the menace of drug abuse among the youth in the country, advising parents and university vice chancellors to check the spread among students.
