YPP Guber Candidate, Gobir Donates N5m To IEYDA Annual Empowerment Program

By Adedayo Said

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Alhaji Yakubu Gobir on Saturday donated five million naira (N5million) towards the annual empowerment program of Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA).

Gobir who is also the Madawaki of Ilorin announced the donation while speaking at the Palace during the 27th Coronation anniversary of Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Zulu Gambari.

His words: "Over the past 5 years, I have prioritised social projects for the development of Kwarans, implemented through the Gobir Organization Foundation. Through our current Alaanu Mekunnu program alone, over 40,000 people have applied looking for help and a means to improve their livelihoods.

"I realise that we cannot do this alone, which is why we partner with credible bodies such as the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union to reach more people. We will support the IEDPU empowerment program with 5 million naira and pray that Allah make it beneficial for those who stand to gain most."

Kwara YPP Guber Candidate represented by his running mate, Hon. Bolujoko George said Ilorin and indeed Kwara State have recorded significant progress during the 27 years of His Eminence, Dr Ibrahim Zulu Gambari as the Emir of Ilorin.

According to him, You see, progress is such a dynamic concept. It is not static, or bound by time. Because we were progressing yesterday does not mean we are progressing today. It also does not mean that we cannot progress tomorrow. In fact, true progress starts from the mind -what English people call the 'pscychology of progress'.

Gobir used the opportunity to pray for divine guidance and reign of Emir to be long and prosperous Ilorin Emirate.

It's worthy of note that Alhaji Yakubu Gobir has consistently support different activities organized by community based organizations for over a decade.
