The immediate past President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki's camp continues to deplete as another strong ally in Oyun local government, Captain S.T Popoola dumped Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
Captain Popoola declared for the Young Progressives Party (YPP) on Thursday when the Party's Governorship Candidate in Kwara State, Alhaji Yakubu Gobir (Aláà ánú Mẹ̀kúnnù) and his running mate, Hon Boluwajoko George visited the elder statesman at his private residence on their visit to Oyun local government.
Captain Popoola popularly known as CAPO said he will formally tender his resignation letter from PDP in his ward as soon as possible.
According to him, this is the first time I will be moving to another political party. I declined Bukola Saraki's request for me to join APC in 2014 but now I am leaving for YPP, as the party has lived up to expectations, especially on the issue of equity and fairness.
Popoola also declared support for Alhaji Yakubu Gobir and promises to deliver Oyun local government for YPP during next year’s governorship election. Popoola applauded Gobir for his consistent empowerment programs and other impactful humanitarian gesture including the procurement of tractors for farmers, providing grants to female-owned and operator’s in Kwara YPP Chairman, Chief Ogunbayo later presented the symbol of the party leaves to Captain Popoola and formally welcome him to moving train of real Progressives.
