'Our Youth Have Been Frustrated Enough, Their Needs Would Be My Top Priority'- Charles Folayan

By Adedayo Said

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) House of Reps Candidate for Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency Charles Olufemi Folayan (Asoju Odo) has promised to prioritize the needs of the youth and student folks when elected.

Speaking at the maiden edition of Kwara South Youth Development Organization (KWAYORG) political debate held yesterday at Oro Kwara State, the renowned youth leader said the youth have being struggling so much, they have given so much to the development and advancement of the state and the country, yet they are being given very little or no reward and welfare. He expressed disappointment in how youth have rather being maligned and attacked by political elites at every opportunity.

“It’s very unfortunate that youth are being talked down, maligned, harassed and maltreated by the political elites despite that we are giving our best to this state. In Nigeria, many great people we are referencing today, like Awololowo, Ahmadu Bello, Azikiwe and many others gave their best to the country when they were younger. So, it’s inappropriate to say youth are inexperienced to hold leadership positions.

“I have served as student and youth leader both during my days in school, in my local government, State and the country meritoriously. The comradeship and activism still runs in me. I understand the frustration of the youth and students and I will surely prioritize their welfare when elected.

Folayan also noted that House of Representatives seat is a position that should be used to facilitate development for the people and the communities not for status sake.

“I’m urging the people of Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero federal constituency to elect me because I have the needed knowledge, skills and character to get the job done very well. House of Reps seat is not meant for anyone who just want elevated social status and opportunity to oppress the downtrodden with luxury cars. It’s a job for a vibrant young man like me to lobby my colleagues, the executives and the various government ministries, departments and agencies to get massive opportunities for my constituents.

“How many of our constituents have being able to access various government intervention programs in Bank of Industry, Bank of Agric, SMENDA, NITDA, NGOs and many of them? The rate is very poor. So, we need to redirect our energy and resources to build the capacity of the youth and women, guide them on businesses and change their location if necessary to make them succeed.

“You know I’m the best you can send to speak for you, I’m bold and courageous. I know the issues affecting our people and I know how to put them forward to get the required result. I would also do the work of law making, oversight functions and appropriation diligently, when elected.

Asoju Odo also presented highlights of his manifesto to the audience and urged the public to look at details and download his manifesto on his website at www.charlesofemi.com.
