The candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the 2023 Governorship election in Kwara State, Alhaji Yakubu Gobir (Aláà ánú Mèkúnnù) and his running mate, Hon. Boluwajoko George on Friday received a resounding welcome from hundreds of supporters in the Offa local government area of the State when they visited different wards to canvass for votes ahead of the 2023 General elections.
Gobir in continuation of his statewide tour stormed Offa where he observed the Jummat prayer at the Offa Central Mosque before visiting the Olofa of Offa, His Royal Majesty Oba Mufutau Mohammed Gbadamosi Oloyede Esuwoye II to seek blessings and share his plans for the state when elected.
Furthermore, the candidate also engaged the leadership of Owode Market led by Alhaji Moshood Bello (Baba Loja of Offa Kingdom) and Alhaja Alhaja Idiat Ige Oshola Yusuf (Iya Loja of Owode Offa Kingdom) who were delighted to host Gobir and his teeming supporters.
At a meeting with the Christian Association of Nigeria (Kwara Chapter - Offa) at the St. Mark’s Anglican Cathedral, the leadership expressed, “We have conducted our research and verified that your Aánú is real, not fake. You are kind and sincere and God Almighty will reward you.”
The council of Imams in Offa Local Government Area led by Khalifa-Sufian Akewusola prayed for the success of Gobir in next year's poll.
The cheerful multitude of party stalwarts, local governments chieftains and members were gathered; jubilating — singing and dancing to express their support for the YPP Guber candidate.
In expressing gratitude to the joyful supporters, Gobir (Aláà ánú Mèkúnnù) said “I appreciate your show of love and endorsement and InshaAllah, I will do even more when I get to Government House.”
He added, “I urge you to vote for YPP candidates in the forthcoming election, from Governorship to House of Representatives, State House of Assembly, we know where the shoe pinches and are determined to fix it. YPP is committed to changing the fortune of Kwara and lifting Kwarans out of poverty through our tested and trusted initiatives.”
