Kwara State Government has demanded improved speed in the ongoing construction of the waterworks in Jebba, Moro Local Government Area and expressed dissatisfaction at the pace of the contractor since the government has not defaulted in its part of the contractual obligations.

Speaking at the site of the facility during an unscheduled visit on Thursday, Commissioner for Water Resources Hon. Wahab Femi Agbaje (White) said the slow pace of the work, now at 72%-80% is unacceptable. He urged the contractor to buckle up.

Alhaji Agbaje said the contractor handling the project needs to do more to meet government's expectation on the project, especially that government has fulfilled its own part of the bargain.

Agbaje, who conducted the on-the-spot assessment of the project with his team of engineers from the Directorate of Water Engineering Services of the Ministry, such as Director, Engr. Yusuf Wopa; Representative of the Acting General Manager of Kwara State Water Corporation Engr. Bamidele Sunday; Assistant Director Engr. Shehu AbdulRaheem; and Residential Engineer for the project Engr. Dotun Abioye.

The Commissioner directed the contractor to prioritise some critical components of the project, including testing and loading of transformer, leakage testing, off site construction of motor panel, on-site installation of motor control panel, connection to consumers, and commissioning.

The Commissioner enjoined the contractor to speed up the project before his next visit to meet the expectaions of the government and in compliance with the contractual agreement.
