International Youth Day 2022: Nigeria Political Youth Leaders Sues For Peace
By Adedayo Said
This theme is as ideal as it is a true reflection of the current yearnings and aspirations of Youth around the world.
In Africa and Nigeria in particular, age-long traditions, repressive cultures and blatant disregard for the Youth population all serve to fuel suspicion and in extreme cases rebellion of young people to people of other demographic groupings.
This year's celebration brings to our consciousness the need for us to forge bridges across generational lines. This is so because as young people, nature puts us in the order of succession, we must however prepare and position ourselves through being mentored and collaboration amongst ourselves as well as with people of the older and younger generations.
The criticality of the times we are in offers us a unique opportunity to partner towards propelling our nation to greater heights by leveraging on our numbers.
Therefore, as we commemorate this day, it is our desire that we as young people will shun all the vices that tend to amplify our differences and lean towards the virtues that optimizes our diversity which should inspire great strength in us.
As we incline ourselves to the spirit of our nation's motto; Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress, we shall be empowered to sculpt a Nigeria that supports the actualization of our dreams and provides a great background for the generations unborn.
Happy International Youth Day.
Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria!
