Kwara Community Groans Over Gully Erosion, Demands Govt Intervention

The residents of Abata Jagun, Baba Soldier Street of Sobi road in Ilorin East Local Government of Kwara State have made a passionate appeal to the Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, to as a matter of urgency come to their aid over perennial flooding which has caused gully erosion that has made the community not liveable.
The community made the appeal in Ilorin on Friday in an open letter made available to KWARAREPORTERS. The letter titled "The flood in the hearts of Abata Jagun Baba Soldier's resident, Ilorin" signed by Comrade Saka Shuaib for the community.
"The community had spent over one million Naira to control flood in the area before the outbreak of Coronavirus that affected fund and caused the project to be uncompleted."
"This proactive measure is taken to control the damages caused by flood in our community after several attempts to get the attention of the state government has been futility, and not to dent the image of our workaholic Governor. The erosion has caused lots of damages in the area including the lives of our domestic animals and a house had collapsed because of the recent flood in the community".
The people of the community further urged the Kwara State Government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to complete the project to avoid further loss of lives and properties. They also pledged their support for the success of the present administration.
"For Kwara State to develop, there is a need for joint efforts between communities and government and other communities need to learn from the giant step taken by the residents of Abata Jagun, Baba Soldier's Street Sobi Road Ilorin in their effort to assist the government in developmental projects." The letter reads.
