Imposition Of Candidate: Mass Defection Hits APC In Lanwa/Ejidongari Constituency (VIDEO)
Some Concerned All Progressives Congress (APC) in Moro local government area of Kwara State have accused Senator Sadiq Umar and Kwara State Commissioner for Works, Hon Rotimi Suleiman of substituting winner of party's primary election in Lanwa/Ejidongari Constituency, Hon Abdulraheem Medinat Motunrayo Afolabi for Hon John Bello.
Ibrahim Umar on behalf of Concerned APC Members in Moro local government disclosed this on Saturday while addressing newsmen in Jebba on Saturday.
According to him, this press briefing became necessary following the recent development about the real APC House of Assembly candidate for Lanwa/Ejidongari Constituency ahead 2023 general elections. It's no longer news that the All Progressives Congress conducted House of Assembly primary election in May this year to elect party flagbearers to run for Kwara State House of Assembly seats. Winners have definitely emerged and other processes including submission of candidates' name to the Independent National Electoral Commission, filling of INEC nomination forms and others have been done in preparation for another round of elections after OTOGE revolution of 2019 in Kwara State.
They also berated Hon John Bello for mismanaging N30MILLION released by state government for victims of fire incident that occured in Jebba.
For records, a vibrant female aspirant, Hon Abdulraheem Medinat Motunrayo Afolabi defeated Hon John Bello and other Aspirants during the primary election held in Bode Sa'adu the headquarters of Moro local government. Some party faithfuls reportedly bullied John Bello during the indirect primary election because of his abysmal performance, insensitivity to Constituents' need and poor human relationship management.
Gentlemen of the press, Please note that the winner has received INEC nomination form before Senator Sadiq Umar from Kaiama local government and Commissioner for Works, Hon Rotimi Suleiman for selfish reason move to substitute Medinat Afolabi for Hon John Bello, despite his rejection by party faithfuls.
At this junction, We will like to inform the whole world that a leading Aspirant, Azeez Ayodimeji Ayodele stepped down from the race to support Hon Abdulraheem Medinat Motunrayo Afolabi in spirit of fairness, justice, equity and most importantly out of respect for His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to support the all-inclusive representation for women. To our greatest surprise Hon Rotimi Suleiman traded the mandate of majority in Eji/Lanwa Constituency to John Bello and Engr Taoheed Dauda Toyin for Senator Sadiq Umar to shortchange our local government. We worked assiduously to ensure her victory during the primary election amidst intimidation by association of political opportunists created by OTOGE revolution.
Feelers from Kwara APC Secretariat indicate that Hon Rotimi Suleiman and some party leadership are collaborating with Senator Sadiq Umar who is representing Kwara North Senatorial district to shortchange the original winner and smuggle in John Bello's name to the INEC final list.
The Commissioner should know the mandate of the people does not give him absolute authority over the decision of the people, especially party members in a democratic setting. Democracy is a game of numbers and the decision of the people of Lanwa/Ejidongari Constituency should be respected.
It's sad that the likes of Kwara State Commissioner for Works, Hon Rotimi Suleiman, Senator Sadiq Umar and the symbol of poor performance in the House of Assembly are given Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq bad name in mind of Kwarans.
Having said that, it's time to move to greater heights with our political movement. We are left with no other choice than to align with the real Progressives and committed Kwarans on the platform of Young Progressives Party (YPP) to get better deal for our people. We cannot continue to condone what we said enough is enough (OTOGE) to in 2019.
We believe the Young Progressives Party has opened window of progress for youth and patriotic kwarans to actualize their political ambition ahead of 2023 general elections. We therefore charge the youth, women, aged, technocrats, traders, artisans and others to join us and thousands of supporters in YPP to get better deal for Kwara North. Together we can make it happen!
