KWASU Students Body Honours Charles Folayan For Youth Training And Mobilization

...Charged Students On Meaningful Political Participation, Advocate For Efficiency, INEC Funding

The YPP House of Reps Candidate for Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency Charles Olufemi Folayan has urged young people to take advantage of the two month extension of the voters registration excercise.

Delivering his speech today at a conference organized by the National Association of Political Science and Public Administration Students NAPAS at the Kwara State University Malete Kwara State, Folayan urged the students to be more practical about political participation and save the country from recycling incompetent leaders.

Asoju Odo who narrated how he joined others to form the Young Progressives Party YPP in 2017, urged the students to learn more about politics and governance even outside the classroom and use their knowledge, skills, creativity and innovation in addressing societal challenges through active participation in political processes and governance structure.

"It would make more sense if you students of political science and public administration can join politics at tje grassroot and practicalize what you are studying in school. The societal politics today is different from what is in the books and we need people with capacity, knowledge, skills and character to redirect the politics properly and address various challenges.

"When we refused to meaningfully engage the young people who are full of energy and enthusiasm they might direct their energy to create problems that the leaders who are already running out of energy would not be able to solve.

Folayan who also received NAPAS award of honour for youth training and mobilization, advice the Students to take the advantage of the two month extension of the INEC voters registration to get their PVCs, mobilize to polling units on election day, vote for worthy candidates, reject vote buying and monitor their votes to guide against rigging and manipulations.

"There is no magic in politics, it's a game of numbers. The youth have the population but our population would have no value if we don't have PVCs. Election can not be won on the social media but at the polling units. They have extended the clossing date of the PVC registration by two months, let's take the advantage and go out to register.

He also urged the Federal Government to make available more funds and manpower for the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for effective and efficient registration excercise.
