KWARA SOUTH 2023: 'Our Royal Stools Shouldn't Be Disrespected On The Grounds Of Politics... ' -Lateef Amolegbe

One of the odds of the digital age is that even private event readily assumes a global dimension. All it takes is a camera-phone to telecast to the waiting world. And round the clock each day, a deluge of unsolicited messages freely shows up on mobile devices, cutting across narratives, gossips, prayers, corporate begging, preaching and even prophesies of charlatans!

So it was on that laid-back afternoon when this video of concern titled "Olofa Endorses Prof. Wale Sulaiman (PWS) For Kwara South Senate 2023" was shared.

For quite some time now many of us have been forced to settle with many intolerable political games while some of us do expect some political gimmickry as it's unfolding
especially at this special political season.

For the sake of some of us from the Kwara South and who know better, we owe it to our people to give some truthful explanation to some of the ALTERNATIVE NARRATIVES that are currently trending out there online.

In essence, this write-up is a reaction to a video of concern titled "Olofa Endorses Prof. Wale Sulaiman (PWS) For Kwara South Senate 2023" which was shared online on a fateful afternoon.

OLOFA of Offa, Oba Mufutau Muhammed Oloyede Gbadamosi, Okikiola Esuwoye II, didn’t, wouldn’t, can’t and have NOT endorsed any aspirant publicly before the primaries.

It is no more news as all the nine (9) first class Obas from the Kwara south recently came out, happily and gloriously endorsed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, GAA right after the major endorsement of HRH, the Emir of Ilorin and HRH the Emir Lafiagi, Patigi respectively. And they did it strictly by protocol and traditional level of seriousness.

Also, all the ones from the Kwara South came out JOINTLY by design for those in the know.

What Olofa was allegedly accused of doing is what has now become a very normal, and all too common Royal visit that most aspirants make to different palaces in our communities.

So far, the job of a well rounded, well polished, adequately articulated, and well spoken Kabiesi, the like of the Olofa of Offa with immense wealth of experience on the throne, HRH is too much of a mega King to casually and recklessly endorse a candidate pre primary selection/election that hurriedly left APC as part of Awon Anigba group to another party when he was a bonafide member of the first class Obas who just unanimously endorsed GAA. Such action/insinuation will not make any political sense.

Another reason that muted this acclaimed notion is, the incumbent Senator Lola Ashiru is from Offa. Even if he and Kabiesi are beefing, and he had signaled that he was running and bought a form, a common Royal courtesy visit will not allow Olofa to put himself out there like that.

Likewise, the most recent candidate also from Offa, former Commissioner in the AA cabinet, Hon. White has been very close to Kabiesi for many years.

What about the Aerospace “reknowned” ENGINEER Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun from Esie/Ile Balogun of Offa. How can one overlook all these different scenarios and jump to a conclusion that Olofa will carelessly and most importantly put himself in a Royal quagmire of most difficult proportion? Hell to the no. Olofa is too smart, too media savvy and robustly calculative to fall prey to this kind of political gimmickry pronouncement.

Yes indeed, Olofa lived in the North like many people from offa, but he rules over the Yorubas of the Kwara south. He masters the language to the core and understands it absolutely well. I challenge anyone, I mean anyone to listen to the tape posted and tell me where he clearly and sincerely said I endorse so and so person as my candidate of choice in a senatorial district where he reigned and rules over these many years. Again, BUYERS BEWARE!!!

Don’t follow what has been written, just listen to the tape with the 3rd ear. I am committed to calling any of them out of playing funny political games with my people from the GOOD OLD SOUTH.

One of the odds of the digital age is that even private events readily assume a global dimension. All it takes is a camera-phone to telecast to the waiting world. And round the clock each day, a deluge of unsolicited messages freely shows up on mobile devices, cutting across narratives, gossips, prayers, corporate begging, preaching and even prophecies of charlatans!

Our Royal stools shouldn't be disrespected on the grounds of politics please.

Alhaji Lateef Amolegbe, Pioneer President of Igbomina Community in North America, ICNA.
