Hon. Omar Bio Provides Start-Up Grant To Hundreds Of Women In Baruten/Kaiama (Photos)
Assures constituents of continuous empowerment schemes
It was a moment of appreciations, praises and goodwill remarks when the House of Representatives member representing the good people of Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency of Kwara State, Hon. Mohammed Omar Bio, fcpa, iion, has reached out to hundreds of his constituents in a programme that captures the women fold. The event was held at Kaiama and Baruten LGAs on the 18th and 19th of April 2022, respectively.
In his opening speech at the event, the Kaiama LG TIC Chairman, Hon., congratulated the constituents of Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency, '‘for having a worthy representative who has his people at heart.’' Represented by the Kaiama LG TIC Secretary, Hon. Mohammed Abdulkareem, said Hon. Omar Bio _"is among the best representatives from the state that has set the pace of political leadership and keep constant touch with their constituents and constituencies."

"Our people can now feel the presence of government and democracy within them. This is what the people elected them to do and this what the present crops of elected political office holders have been doing not only for the youths but the women (trader moni i.e owo isowo) and for the aged (owo arugbo) irrespective of age, colour, religion or origin. This, for me, is what is called leadership with kind heart.”
While also commending the legislator of the grant, the Kaiama LG All Progressives Congress, APC, Chairman, Hon. Ismaila Mora Dio, who acknowledged that hundreds of constituents will be leaving this venue in an enthusiastic mood today with the cash support that will help reshape their economic and social life forever.
"What we are witnessing today is a demonstration of what the All Progressives Congress, APC, represents in the comity of political parties in Nigeria. Our party, APC, is not just a political party but a tool for social change and economic prosperity," Dio said.

"Today, hundreds of electorates (women) will be leaving this venue with reasonable amount of cash as start-up grant for women that will be changing their lives forever if properly utilised. So, in APC, we don't just make promises but accomplishments. We thank the facilitator, Hon. Omar Bio, who gathered us here today to give back to the society. We wish success beyond 2023, In Sha Allah," he added.
On his part, the Boriya/Shiya ward APC Vice Chairman, Alh. Yakubu Sabi, described the scheme provided by Hon. Abin Bio as laudable and historic in the annals of politics in Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency.
“We know those who held same position he is holding today. Hon. Abin Bio is God’s sent. This is a demonstration of love for the electorates. Our voters can now feel government closer to them more than what was obtainable in Baruten, Kwara North and the entire State. The governor and our lawmakers are all up and doing."

"Today, most youths are doing pretty well in their areas of vocational trainings and empowerment. We must continue in this drive till we achieve our target of getting most youths positively engaged. I am most concerned about the dimension youth vices is assuming in the society today. We will need to appeal to our youths via this kind of empowerment schemes. That is the only way to go," Alh. Yakubu emphasized.
Different speakers, including the APC Elders' Forum and Durobi of Kaiama, Alh. Abdulrahman Wali, the APC Women Leader, Mallama Adama Mahmud, the Welfare Officer of the APC Elders' Forum, Hon. Ismail Haliru (Asha-Panadol), etc, at the event extolled the leadership prowess of the lawmaker and commended his determination to redefine representation in practical terms, beyond the rhetorics of sugar-coated electioneering promises. They described the Dan Madamin Ilesha-Baruba as an all round representative who is not found wanting in any aspect of his legislative duties.

In his remark before the flag-off of the disbursement of the grants, the Chairman of the implementation committee, Comr. Musa Abubakar Tasuki, said the lawmaker has a pact with his constituents to represent them to the best of his ability, and that he is towing the path of the covenant with the fear Allah regardless of what detractors feel about his accomplishments.
He further explained that the scheme was aimed at helping small scale businesses to grow, get the women fold engaged, make them self-reliant, and motivate them into tradings.
No fewer than 105 constituents (women only) across the constituency have benefited from the cash support scheme for small scale businesses.
The well attended event which was tagged "The Women Business Start-up Grant", is the 2nd, so far, initiated by the lawmaker in his quest to accomplish his campaign promises centered on improving the economic and social lives of his constituents.

The contentments and expressions in the faces of the beneficiaries of the start-up grants was a testimony of the positive upliftment the lawmaker has impacted in the lives of the beneficiaries.
The implementation committee chairman further revealed that beneficiaries were decided by party stakeholders of each ward across the constituency while admonishing the beneficiaries to make proper use of the grants and pleaded with those who could not make the list of beneficiaries, assuring them that they could make it in the subsequent schemes.
"Accordingly, it should be noted that the responsibility of the nomination or selection of the beneficiaries of these business start-up grants was the decision of the stakeholders from each ward across the constituency. I can only admonish the beneficiaries to make judicious use of these grants. It is important to also note that these items can not go round, so I'm pleading with those who could not make the list of today's empowerment to keep patience for subsequent programmes. More will still come, In Sha Allah."

Dignitaries at the event are; the chairmen of the 10 political wards in Kaiama LG, the Chairperson of the APC Women Forum, Hajia Zikki Rabi, the APC Elders' Forum's PRO 1, Mallam Ismail Bukar, the former HOD Agric, Hajia Maimunat Omar, the APC Joint Association Secretary, Mallam Umar Yakubu Bawa, the convener of the Kaiama Women in Politics, Hajia Hussainat Ango, the convener of the Kaiama LG APC Women Frontier.
Other important guests are; the SA Women Affairs to Hon. Omar Bio, Mallama Halimah Ibrahim SP, the Constituency Director of Projects and Finance, Mallam Abubakar Mukete, the wards coordinators of Hon. Omar Bio Political Vanguard of Kaiama LG, other APC LG and ward executives, party stakeholders, leaders of thoughts, youths leaders, various organisations, press and media organisations, market women, politicians, among others.
The peak of the event was the presentation of empowerment items to the lucky beneficiaries.

In his vote of thanks remarks, the DG of the constituency office and member of the implementation committee, Mallam Mohammed Idris Aliyu, thanked for everyone for gracing the occasion despite the short notice. He prayed that Allah reward everyone abundantly and grant them a safe return to their various destinations.
