Electoral Act: Kwara YPP Congratulates Nigerians, Pleads With The Youth On Political Participation
The Young Progressives Party in Kwara State has congratulated the young people of Kwara State and Nigerians in general on the final Presidential assent to the new Electoral Act bill.
In a statement signed by the Kwara State Chairman of the party Mr Charles Olufemi Folayan, the party urged the youth to maximize the new electoral Act for their benefits and take the advantage to participate meaningfully in the 2023 general elections.
“The Presidential assent to the electoral Act is a good development, but the most important is the implementation. I call on the Nigerian youth to maximize the law for our benefit and take the advantage of it and be more active in the coming elections. We must stand up now and participate meaningfully in politics and governance for the peace and development of our state and the country at large”
The Chairman said, the new electoral Act would reduce manipulation, intimidation and all forms of electoral fraud within political parties and the general conduct of elections in Nigeria. He called on the youth to register as voters before the closing date and take charge of the 2023 general elections.
While appreciating President Buhari and the National Assembly for achieving the electoral Act amendment against all odds, he urged the federal government to provide every necessary institutional support for it implementation.
“it wouldn’t have been necessary to thank President Buhari and the National Assembly for doing their job but we have to appreciate them for pushing this through against the wish of many enemies of Nigeria who at one time or the other had stood against electoral reforms in Nigeria for selfish reasons. We urge the government to provide all necessary institutional support for the implementation”
Folayan added that, the Young Progressives Party YPP remains the most viable platform for the young people to achieve their dreams and aspirations for their state and the country.
