PHOTOS: Kwara PDP Suffers Another Set Back As Hundreds Of Party Loyalists Defects To APC In Oyun
Kwara PDP has suffered another cataclysmic set back as hundreds of staunch supporters of former Senator Rafiu Ibrahim Adebayo defected to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC in Ojoku Ward of Oyun Local Government.
In a well attended ceremony, Dr. Donald Adeshina, the Oluomo of Ojoku-land and Hon. Lukman Taiye Salami led hundreds of PDP members in Ojoku to APC.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Adeshina said the unprecedented giant stride and leadership style of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq inspired their decisions to join the party.
According to him "As a member of the Kwara Community in diaspora, I have seen how the 'O to ge' revolution brought about rapid change in governance and service delivery to Kwarans and it is the best for every right thinking Kwarans to team up with His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq in bringing back the Kwara that we all desire".
While receiving the new members, Dr. Waheed Olaitan Ibrahim, the Oyun Local Government Council Chairman described His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mal. Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, as the architect of pride worthy Kwara that is working for all.
Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode, who is representing Oke-ogun Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly said the 2022 Budget that had just been signed into law contains lots of capital projects and welfare packages for communities and people of Kwara South. He gave the assurance that the great works done by the governor is just a tip of the iceberg in comparison to what we should expect in the coming months.
Speaking on behalf of the party leaders, Hon. Waheed Olanrewaju Abolaji (Ale'nul'oro) congratulated the new members for their timely decision to join the progressive movement of the APC. He gave the assurance that all the new members shall be accorded equal regards and privileges like the old members.
He also enjoined other members in the opposition parties to take the bold initiative of joining the APC in this auspicious moment. Finally, Ale'nul'oro advised party leaders to embark on massive mobilization of the electorates for the ongoing INEC Continuous Voters Registration exercise.
The high point of the event was the handing over of the party symbol, the broom, to the new members. This was done by the party chairman, Mal. Kamal Akanbi, with the assistance of the leader of the party in Oyun LG, Chief Funsho Alabi and Alh. Nasirudeen Tingbadun, the APC ward chairman in Ojoku Ward.
The event was witnessed by all the APC ward chairmen, women leaders, Youth leaders, Secretaries and members of the Oyun APC Stakeholders.
