No Coach In Nigeria? As NFF In Rohr Debt, Still Looking To Sign Another Foreign Coach

It somewhat seemed impossible to come through with following the fact that the NFF was going to have to be in debt of $2 million and other financial entitlements to Gernot Rohr, based on an agreed contract clause. But it indeed came as a surprise rather less shocking that the NFF and Minister for Sports still took to the decision of sacking the Super Eagles coach.

Rohr who earns $55,000 per month had signed a contract extension to keep him in charge of the Super Eagles until after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with the hefty payout clause.

But following the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifier matches where the Super Eagles had not being satisfactory enough in their performances has left not just the fans but also the sponsors frustrated by the team's poor displays in recent times and have been pushing for Rohr's dismissal.

Condemning the huge compensation inserted into the German's contract, former Super Eagles attacker, Daniel Amokachi, said the move was a big mistake by the NFF. "Puting a $2 million clause on a coach that has never won anything since his takeover as coach, that’s the first I’m hearing such".

But in the midst of all this nonetheless, the NFF came to terms of paying the agreed compensations on installment, in the light of that moves are already made on signing yet another foreign coach, as the NFF president holds a meet in the United Kingdom with the future coach.

Reports has it that even another foreign coach has shown his interest in the position, but fingers crossed as NFF moves to a decision.

But alas, why is it that there happens to be no suitable coach the NFF could pick within the country amidst all the past magnificent players for the country?
