Offa LG TIC Chairman Allegedly Slap Treasurer, Chase Him To Sign A Cheque Of N150m


A report has it that Hon. Jare Olatundun, the TIC chairman of Offa Local Government, and the council Treasurer Shehu Abdullahi, turned Offa council Secretariat to a Marathon stadium over a cheque of N150m.

According to AfrikaEyes the chairman ordered the treasurer to sign a cheque of N150m without a proper explanation on what the fund is meant for, while the treasurer refused to sign the cheque and left the chairman office.

It was said that Mr Olatundun has failed to give proper account of funds earlier withdrew from Offa local government accounts, before he sent for the treasurer to sign another cheque.

An eyewitness who spoke under anonymity with AfrikaEyes said the treasurer who was not comfortable with the chairman's decision said "I am a civil servant and i can't continue to signed any cheque that i won't be able to defend in case we have issues with EFCC."

He said the statement did not go well with the TIC chairman and out of annoyance gave the treasurer a dirty slap.

"It was on this note that the TIC chairman started chasing him round the secretariat premises, it took the efforts of other staff within the local government before the TIC chairman left him alone," he said.
