Hon. Owolabi Allegedly Move To Retrieve Car Empowerment From Beneficiary

I have no intention of retrieving back the car... -Hon. Owolabi

Reports has it that the House of Assembly member representing Share/oke-ode constituency in Ifelodun local government of Kwara State, Hon. Razaq Owolabi Olatunde is allegedly making moves to reclaim empowerment items from beneficiaries.

Five months after organizing a colourful and talk of town empowerment programme in Share, the headquarters of Ifelodun local government, the Assembly member is demanding for return of a vehicle doled out as empowerment to one of the beneficiaries, Alhaja Taibat Suleiman for her loyalty to the faction of AA caucus of the All Progressives Congress not loyal to the Lawmaker.

Recall that Owolabi doled out cars, refrigerators, sewing machines among others at an empowerment program in Share, which attracted applause from the Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon. Yakubi Danladi Salihu and other dignitaries who witnessed the programme.

It was gathered that Hon. Razaq Owolabi has commenced process of reclaiming Mazda Premacy presented to Alhaja Taibat Suleiman during the widely publicized empowerment programme few months ago.

Alhaja Taibat Suleiman, who is from Share Ward II of Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State in a chat with newsmen accused the Lawmaker of several threats in desperate attempts to reclaim the car.

Alhaja Suleiman said, “I registered the car in my name after the empowerment, but I decided to sell it few months ago arising from embarrassments and threats from the lawmaker.

"It’s however unfortunate and shocking that Hon. Razaq Owolabi has been accusing me of stealing a car publicly presented to me during empowerment programme”.

“He is using police to harass the dealer I sold the car to, accusing him of buying stolen vehicle.
The car belong to me but I have since decided to sell it. He can’t intimidate me with police.
“The pictures and other evidences are intact. He can continue to act like a child in politics”. Alhaja Suleiman explained

The car dealer, Mr. Yusuf Abdullahi who bought the vehicle, during an interaction with some journalists said “I bought the Mazda from Alhaja Taibat, after confirming that the vehicle belong to her with original particulars.

“I was surprised when, on Friday around 10am, I got a call to report at Police headquarters that I bought a stolen vehicle.

“I inquired what brand of car and the police officer who called said the Mazda Premacy with him is a stolen car. I immediately called Alhaja that I am returning her car but she insisted the car is not stolen”, Abdullahi added.

KwaraReporters on a fact finding spoke with Hon. Owolabi on the authenticity of the allegations levied against him. In his response, he debunked the allegation and he said has no intention or whatsoever to reclaim the car.

In his words; I have been hearing this rumors since yesterday evening but the truth is that I have no intention of retrieving back the car from Alhaja Taibat Suleiman.

Hon. Owolabi further said; "Truly I gave her the said car and I have never thought of reclaiming the car from her, so why is it now i will I want to reclaim the car in her possession?. And what I don't understand is that what she meant by being my loyalist or ceasing to be my loyalist, because I gave her the car and other Beneficiaries on the ground of being a party (APC) loyal members."

"What really happened from the information I gathered was that she was booed from all quarters in Share for being an ingrate and when she raised the issue of selling the car, I placed a call to her to convinced her not to sell the car I gave to her, because I gave it to her with good intention, and I persuaded her to be using the car, but she went ahead to sell it. So please disregard the news, it fake." He said.
