Hon. Omar Bio Facilitates Another Round Of Empowerment For Constituents In Baruten LGA

As part of his efforts to tackle the high rate of poverty and provide means of livelihood for his constituents in Baruten LGA, the House of Representatives member representing the good people of Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency of Kwara State, Hon. Mohammed Omar Bio, has facilitated the provision of empowerment tools to youths and women in Baruten LGA as part of social responsibility initiative of the NIGERIAN PORTS AUTHORITY. 

Distributing the tools to the beneficiaries on Saturday March 06, 2021 at Ilesha-Baruba in Baruten local government area of the state, the lawmaker, Hon. Omar Bio, who was represented by Alh. Abdulmumini Yakubu, said, the choice of empowerment tools was at the instance of the economic situation and the level of poverty in the society, noting that youths' unemployment and abject poverty is in the high side, especially in this part of country.

The lawmaker, according to his representative, also appealed to the youths not to venture into activities that are inimical to societal peace and norms, adding that stealing and robbery as the last resort to lack of jobs is not only illegal but immoral and strange in Batonu culture.

Hon. Omar Bio further commended constituents and particularly members of the APC in Baruten and Kaiama and the state in general for their prayers and unalloyed supports to the President Muhammadu Buhari's federal government and Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led administration in the state, stressing that they (elected office holders) will not relent in their efforts to bring real dividends of democracy to the people.

Addressing the beneficiaries, a representative from the Nigerian Ports Authority, Pastor Yekeen Adeniyi, disclosed that the initiative is part of President Muhammadu Buhari's efforts to tackle unemployment in the youth circle and reduce poverty to the barest minimal, noting that these empowerment tools will help the beneficiaries to start up something reasonable to earn a living. 

"This empowerment is part of the corporate social responsibility initiative of the Nigerian Port Authority which is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari's efforts to reduce the high rate of poverty and provide job opportunities to Nigerian youths irrespective of political or religious affiliations," Yekeen said. 

"Let me also use this medium to urge you, especially today's beneficiaries, to commend the decision of the lawmaker, Hon. Omar Bio, for using the initiative to empower his constituents and not diverting the items for personal use or selfish gains. I advise you all to make good use of these tools," he added.

Addressing people during the programme, the APC Chairman in Baruten LGA, Alh. Abubakar Adamu Doo, who doubled as the Chairman of the occasion, said the empowerment is unique because of the kind of materials distributed, noting that it is in line with the needs of the people and also coming at the appropriate time when unemployment and abject poverty are biting hard in the society. He also urge the beneficiaries to make proper use of the materials.

On his part, the Emir of Ilesha, HRH Prof. Halidu I. Abubakar, who was ably represented a prominent member of his royal cabinet, Mallam Yakubu Adamu, Dan Masanin Ilesha-Baruba, acknowledged the representation, political sagacity and leadership role of Hon. Mohammed Omar Bio, hoping that more of such empowerment programmes will come and more people will be captured.

Commending the sponsors and the facilitator of the initiative, a representative of the Hausa community and beneficiary of the initiative from Okuta ward, acknowledged that he received a brand new generator set and appreciate the fact that these tools will go a long way in raising beneficiaries above the poverty line and reduce joblessness among our teeming youth. May Allah continue to elevate the facilitator, Hon. Omar Bio.

Also appreciating the facilitator, an APC stakeholder, beneficiary and representative of the Yoruba community with respect to the selection of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Asimi Yanri, disclosed that this is representation like never before and commended Hon. Bio for his impactful legislative strides. "Our representatives in this dispensation are all living up to their campaign promises. May Allah continue to inspire them and give them the needed wisdom in the discharge of their responsibilities."

Mohammed Woru Ga'ani, the Ilesha ward APC Women leader, Mallama Ramatu, Ilesha ward APC Secretary, Mr. Bio Aliyu, Ilesha ward APC treasurer, Mal. Umar Faruk Imam, the ABPV Chairman, Comr. Iliasu Ibrahim Abedi, Hon. Bio's coordinator for Gwanara District, Mallam Issa Mohammed (Docky), Domestic aide and Ilesha ward Coordinator of the lawmaker, Arc. Yusuf Zakariyau Qasim, Personal Assistant to Hon. Bio on Baruten matters, Mohammed Jimoh (Ajibolo), Director of Oyeolohun Music Production, Nurudeen Abdulwasiu, Hon.
