Senator Rafiu Visits orphanage, Correctional Service Centre To Mark His 54th Birthday


...awards scholarship to 2 orphans 

In commemoration of his 54th birthday anniversary, which comes up tomorrow, 12 December, Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim on Friday, visited Hope Motherless Babies Home at Idofian in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State, to donate food items, toiletries and educational materials.   

The Senator who was accompanied to the Orphanage Home by his friend, political elders, and some of his aides, also awarded scholarship to university level to two of the children at the Home. He equally pledged a yearly cash donation and other items to the Orphanage. 

Senator Rafiu who said he was touched by what he saw at the Orphanage promised regular visits to the place to identify with the management and the children. 

He said, "I am moved with what I am seeing here today. I see myself not better in anyway than these children as I was also brought up in a situation not too different from what I met here today. I am only a product of Almighty’s grace and only opportuned to become who I am today. I promised to be a regular visitor here, to associate with the management and the children here."


The administrator of the Orphanage school, Mrs Grace Yeye, who on behalf of the Proprietor of the Orphanage, Mrs Chris Omoleyin, received Senator Rafiu and his team, appreciated the former lawmaker for his philanthropic gesture and support for the children. 

Senator Rafiu also visited the Medium Security Custodial Correctional Centre, of the National Correctional Service Omu-Aran, where he donated food items and toiletries for the inmates. He also facilitated the release of four inmates that have completed their terms by paying for their fines, which they had been unable to pay. 

When told of the various challenges confronting inmates at the centre, Senator Rafiu pledged donation of a motorcycle, a borehole, look into fixing of the centre's faulty transformer and fifty pairs of uniforms for the inmates. 

The celebrant rounded off his activities for the day by joining the Oloro of Oro Kingdom, HRH Oba AbdulRauf Ajiboye Oyelaran, to observed Jumah Prayer together at the town's central mosque. The Chief Imam of Oke-Irimi Oro, who led the Jumah prayer, thanked God Almighty for the life of the Senator. 

He also commended him for sustaining his impacts on community development and humanity despite losing his re-election bid.
