World Toilet Day: Hon. Owolabi Razaq Urges Kwarans To Shun Open-defecation, Says It's Harmful To Public Health


The Chairman House Committee on Health and Environment matters and the member representing Share/Oke-Ode constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Owolabi Razaq has urged Kwarans to shun open-defecation as it's harmful to public health.

Hon. Owolabi made this call today, Tuesday in his speech during the World Toilet Day awareness & sensitization program organized by Kwara state Min of Environment & Forestry, tagged 'Leaving no one behind' at Banquet Hall, Ilorin.


His words: "I thank Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his unrelenting efforts to ensure wellbeing of the people. World Toilet Day is a move to tackle the global sanitation crisis. Toilets, is a live saver, because human waste spread killer diseases if not properly managed.

"It is high time each and every one of us initiate a behavioral change targeted at ending the practice of open- air defecation as it is extremely harmful to Public Health."


He said the 9th  Assembly led by Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu had previously passed a resolution calling on all Public office holders to consider erection of public toilets as their constituency projects so that our people can have access to clean toilet to bring health, wellbeing and protect their human right to good sanitation.

"We will continue to support policies that will provide safely managed sanitation in our beloved State, this we are sure will improve the  state of health of the thriving population for a better future." He added
