Kwara First Lady Harps On Women Empowerment


...Assures youths of adequate support

The First Lady of Kwara state, Mrs. Olufolake AbdulRazaq has commended women of the state for their resilience and commitment to the well-being of both the family and the society at large.

Speaking on Sunday when she played host to the excutives of National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Kwara state chapter, the First Lady disclosed that, "these past five months have been great, I am impressed by the tenacity of purpose of the womenfolk. They have been up and doing."

She noted that the contributions of the womenfolk to the success of the last general elections was great and commended them for being so active.

The wife of the governor who reiterated the need for women to be more empowered, commended them for already taking the lead on this.

Earlier, the president of the council, Hajia Barakat Atunde had assured that the Council identifies with the present administration in its drive to ameliorating the standard of living and also empowering Kwarans.

She lauded the present administration in the state for the recent nomination of four female commissioners stressing that the administration has performed well in the first 100 days in office.


In a related development, wife of the Kwara state governor, Mrs Olufolake AbdulRazaq has assured youths in the state of her unflinching support in all their programs.

She stated this also on Sunday while receiving a delegation of National Youths Council of Nigeria, Kwara state chapter led by its chairman, Mallam Ali Nasir Yusuf.

She acknowledge that, "you are the future and the future starts now so I will be ready to partner with you in any area you deem fit to ensure youths of Kwara are profitably engaged. You know an idle hand is the devil's workshop."

In his address, Yusuf said the Council in the state has decided to confer the title of Matron of youths, the first of its kind in the state, on the First Lady.
