100 DAYS: Kwara First Lady Congratulates Her Husband On Achievements Of Kwara Government


...Unveils Ajike's People Support Center Success Stories

Her Excellency Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq has congratulated her husband, the Kwara State Governor Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on achievements the Kwara State government has recorded in just three months of assuming office.

No doubt the present administration of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq hit the ground running considering the tremendous impact it has made in just three months of assuming office so as his wife and first lady of kwara state Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq in her own bit too, has been engaging in people oriented programmes and activities to compliment the efforts of the Government.

Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq in her congratulatory message to His Excellency urged him to continue the great work he has started with and she also pray for God’s guidance and wisdom to rule Kwara to glory.

The first lady hinted on her plans to support current administration through her pet project- Ajike people’s support center which she intends to surmount some of the challenges faced by women, children and the youths in different facets of their lives, social, economic, health and education.

Ajike People Support Centre is designed to create economic empowerment for people through vocational skills acquisition, encourage education advancement for the girl child and indeed the youths through scholarship awards and ensure the well being of the people through health interventions that would be wholesome. And All these initiatives of the center is designed to cut across all the sixteen local government of the state.

In the last months,  Her Excellency’s passion for the wellbeing of kwarans come to play through her involvement in high impact programs and creating plausible alliances with credible partners who prioritize the welfare of  kwarans;

Some of the aspects the Kwara State First Lady have been in support includes;

Health

In the bid to join other countries of the world who are free from polio and other childhood diseases, the first lady of kwara state Mrs Olufolake Abdulrasaq orally vaccinated infants during the kick off of the 2019 Maternal and child week held at primary health care center, tanke, Ilorin.

At the event Mrs Abdulrazaq charge nursing mothers to come out and avail themselves to the opportunity the exercise presents adding that the wellbeing of every child is of utmost importance to the administration of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Malaria is one of the most common fevers and over the years there had been concerted effort by governments  and non-governmental organizations for it’s total eradication. It is in this wise that the governor of kwara state launched  a campaign, tagged Malaria-Free-Kwara which qualifies Kwarans to access free malaria treatments in health centres close to them. This initiative is part of the Roll-Back-Malaria Partnership, a donor-funded programme which Kwara has now keyed into after AbdulRazaq paid the required counterpart funds. Acknowledging Mrs. Abdulrazaq’s sincere commitment to engendering a healthy citizenry, she was honoured as Champion for malaria elimination at  the event.

In other developments, the mayor of Brent, Ernest Ezeajughi shared his intention to partner with  the office of the first lady to create awareness about sickle cell, also the first lady of Nigeria, Dr. Aisha Buhari also recently nominated Mrs. Abdulrazaq as TB champion.

Education

The value and relevance of education to our world is one that can not be overemphasized, hence Her Excellency’s resolve to always support all government and non governmental organization’s educational initiatives, this comes to the fore when the Stem Educational services had a symposium on the importance of students maximizing their God given talents while pursuing their academic.

The wife of the governor charged students at the workshop to aim high and to not be afraid to perform to the best of their abilities. Stationeries, instructional materials and desktop computers were distributed to selected students and tutors at the end of the workshop.

Social welfare

The recent trend in the use of hallucinogens, opiates and sedative hypnotics among youths is one that calls for concern and as such measures are being taken to dissuade these future leaders from treading this perditious road.

Lending her voice to the campaign against drug abuse and trafficking held during the international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking held in Ilorin on Wednesday 26th of June 2019. The first lady charged the cross section of students present at the event to shun drugs, focus on the future ahead of them and also be good ambassadors of their families and communities. The program was at the instance of NDLEA, ministry of women affairs, kwara state committee on drug abuse and other stakeholders.

It would be recalled that the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNDOC) has designated Kwara as a pilot state to play a leading role in drug control in North Central states, including the FCT.

All these is owed to the fact that kwara has taken keen interest in the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Olufolake Abdulrazaq, an advocate of child’s right who abhors all forms of abuse or violence against women rescued a 4 year old girl who was raped in ilorin by a 60 years old man. Through the intervention of the first lady the little girl was put under the care of the Kwara State ministry of women affairs while the pedophile is having his time in court.

In the same breath the first lady wanting to have an on the spot assessment of the condition in the state’s children reception homes visited the kwara state children reception home pipeline road, ilorin where the facilities were assessed and commodities and food items presented to the children there.

Driven by her passion for the empowerment of women in kwara state the first lady through her Ajike people’s support center collaborated with another non governmental organization; Kwara educated women in politics trained over 200 women selected from across the state in different viable vocations for their economic advancement.

Kwara unique educated women in politics in partnership with the Ajike people’s support initiative of the first lady Mrs. Abdulrazaq will also on the 7th of September 2019 start a skills acquisition training for over 100 indigent women in Omu Aran the Irepodun local government area headquarters where vocations such as soap making, Adire and Kampala making and snacks and confectioneries making will be taught.

Her Excellency Mrs. Abdulrazaq associates with program such as this as it will encourage entrepreneurial drive of women in rural areas and tilts them towards being self reliant.

Agriculture and entrepreneurship is key to economic self reliance, it is in line with this that the federal government through the CBN set out to empower  Nigerians  with financial aid in agribusiness and other ventures. To maximize this opportunity within kwara farmers and entrepreneurs the first lady of kwara state Mrs. Olufolake Abdulrazaq enjoined the Apex bank to ensure more inclusiveness of kwara farmers and entrepreneurs in the scheme.

Assuring the first lady of the readiness of the apex bank to do same, the state controller of the bank Mr Babatunde Amao charged prospective beneficiaries to comply with the guidelines as it is the only way to ensure that everyone benefits.

Kwara is known for her expertise in the weave of the traditional also one also known as of, a feat that has endeared Ilorin to so many parts of the world.

Recently, the executive governor of kwara state Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq engaged the weavers of this beautiful fabrics on how best they think the industry can be moved forward. Interestingly as the executive governor is charting a progressive course for the ofi industry so is the wife, the first lady in far away England is laying bare the investment potentials abound in the fashion industry and how kwara can be a hub of investment in sourcing for global fashion materials at the African Fashion Week London.

The wife of the governor hinged on vocational skills acquisition in fashion as a veritable tool of empowerment for women and youth. With this synergy the fashion industry may eventually turn kwara to it’s hub in no distant time.

Religion

The role of religious organizations in promoting peaceful coexistence, unity and development cannot be overemphasized. To this end,  Her Excellency Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq in her campaign against social vices in the society met with the two main religion bodies (Muslim and Christian) on the need  for them to join the fight against incidents of domestic abuse, crime, drug abuse, and addiction in our society.

Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq through Ajike People Support Centre has supported some religion groups  anti-social vices campaign and Empowerment Programmes.

Some of the religious bodies she met includes; Islamic organisations like NASFAT Kwara State women wing, QAREEB Kwara State Women Wing, Ansar-ud-Deen Kwara State Women Wing, FONWA Kwara State women wing. Also She interacted with the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Honours, Appointments and Recognitions.

Sports in Nigeria is responsible for empowering Nigerian youths to become self reliant and socially responsible. Her Excellency Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq seen as a lover of what promotes self reliance and social responsibility in our youths was named the Matron of the ilorin golf club. This development has been described as one that will surely endear more people to the game. Golf a game which is somewhat seen as a game for the rich and elderly also presents a competitive platform where means can be met and dreams achieved.

Similarly, the little league baseball and softball appointed the first lady of kwara state Mrs. Abdulrazaq as the president of district 03  Nigeria little league which covers the North Central states of Kwara, Niger, benue, nassarawa, plateau and the FCT.

Little league is about grassroots and community based sports development, Her Excellency has enjoyed widespread commendation in her support for grassroots  development.

The Africa Fashion Week that was founded by Princess Ronke Ademuyili appointed Her Excellency Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq as the Matron of its brand.
