Kwara Central APC Youth Caucus Caution Party On Assembly Leadership
The Kwara Central APC Youth caucus has cautioned party leadership over the issue of leadership of State Assembly due for inauguration tomorrow.
The Caucus in a statement issued by Mohammed Olarewaju on Monday said Kwara APC leadership must consider equity, fairness and Justice in sharing of principal officer in the 9th Assembly.
The statement read
''We have in good authority that our great party has zoned Speaker to Kwara North, Deputy Speaker to South and Majority leader to Central.
While we appreciate efforts of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, party leadership and other stakeholders to ensure rancour free inauguration on Tuesday through zoning of principal officers, but the issue of micro zoning should also be done in the spirit of fairness, equity and justice.
In Kwara Central, we have six members drawn from four local government areas: Ilorin West, Ilorin South, Ilorin and Asa. The governor and Senator representing our district are from Ilorin West, therefore Ilorin West should not be in the equation for position of majority.
To this end, We call on APC Kwara Central stakeholders to select a consensus candidate from the lawmakers-elect from the three other LGAs. The who be House Leader must equally be seen to possess requisite propriety, competence and good track records of leadership experience in governance for the betterment of our people."
The Kwara Central APC Youth caucus warned that imposition of any candidate from Ilorin West for post of Majority Leader would demoralize members that worked tirelessly for victory of the party during just concluded general elections.
