Ali Ahmad Receives A Rousing Welcome In Patigi


In his bid to clinch the gubernatorial ticket of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad, was given a rousing welcome in Patigi, headquarters of Patigi Local Government Area.

The Speaker, who was received by trumpeters, drummers and riders at the entry point of Patigi, was accompanied by the Honourable member representing the Area in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Shuaib Ahmed, former Council Chairmen and other party stalwarts to the palace of Etsu of Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar.

Addressing the large crowd of members of the People's Democratic Party in the Local Government Area, the Speaker promised to ensure equal government patronage across the 3 senatorial districts and give priority to programmes and policies that will improve the wellbeing of the people of the State.

The Speaker, who was elated with the large turn out of people of Patigi, assured that he will run an all-inclusive government.

The Etsu of Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar, had while blessing the candidature of Dr. Ali Ahmad, insisted that the governorship ticket should be zoned to Kwara North, but that if Allah decrees otherwise, then his support will go for Dr. Ahmad, in view of the Speaker's ability, to ensure harmonious relationship between the 3 arms of government.

He disclosed that the ability of the Speaker in ensuring a rancour-free Assembly and cohesion among all the 24 members, is a clear demonstration of the his ability to lead the State to a greater heights.

The Etsu of Patigi who is also the Vice Chairman of the State Council of Chiefs, then enjoined Youths in the state, to shun thuggery and other anti social behaviours before, during and after the general elections, to further strengthen the nation's democracy.

Dr Ahmad said he was in Patigi to receive royal blessing, pointing out that the Etsu of Patigi was his father, from time immemorial.

The Speaker disclosed that Traditional Rulers in the State would be given specific roles in the task of ensuring efficient running of his administration.
