Only God Can Remove AbdulRazaq, Kwara Deputy Governor Says To Rival APC Members

...asks them to wait till 2027; as Ekiti Council's APC holds solidarity rally for AbdulRasaq, Samari

Opponents of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State got yesterday a warning to desist because only God can remove him from office.

The Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, told the APC solidarity rally in Osi, Ekiti Local Government Area of the state yesterday that those antagonizing his principal were out for selfish motive.

The rally, which was organized to mobilize support for Governor AbdulRazaq and Abdullahi Sanmari-led state APC, was at the instance of party stakeholders in Ekiti local government area including Prince Sunday Fagbemi, Chief James Ayeni, Senator Simeon Sule Ajibola, a member representing Ekiti Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel and former Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Rasaq among others.

Alabi admonished those eyeing the governorship seat to wait till the next six years when the Governor would have completed his tenure.

He said it was surprising to hear the rumour mill that the Governor did not win the APC governorship primaries in 2018, which culminated in his victory in 2019 gubernatorial election.

Alabi noted that the emergence of Governor AbdulRazaq was a testament that God was on his side while those ganging against him must have a rethink so as not to be put to shame.

He urged those making derogatory comments about him and his administration to desist, saying that there was no basis to run down the system.

"Some people will attempt to bring down a system, but it is not possible. His Excellency, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is our Governor today, only God Almighty can remove him from office. For those who believed they are against him, they are not. They should refer to the holy books and they will realize that they are against God.

"I'm not against God. I may not be able to quote Qur'an but biblically, any person that stands against whoever is in power, is against Almighty God. We should at least fear Almighty God if we don't have fear for mortals.

"When you have somebody, who has chosen to talk less, they will weave a plot around him. Whoever has become garrulous will surely misfire. My point is that AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been crowned Governor. I have heard some people saying he didn't win primaries. If God was not on his side, it wouldn't have been possible.

"If they insisted that Governor AbdulRazaq didn't win primaries, how did he win governorship election? Let us know that God has destined that he is the next Governor. Whoever is interested in governorship race should wait till the next six years; it is around the corner. And those who want to upturn the decision of God will end in shame", Alabi said.

Also speaking at the event, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, said the controversy about the state chairman of the APC had been laid to rest with the appointment of Sanmari.

He called members of the party to troop out en mass for the party's registration, which Sanmari-led state executive was to superintend, warning that any membership card issued apart from his executive would amount to nullity.

The member representing Ekiti Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Ganiyu Gabriel, also informed that the rally held to show the whole world that the people of Ekiti local government are solidly behind the administration of Governor AbdulRazaq and the APC leadership under Sanmari.

He stated that the party remained an indivisible entity in the local government area and no one would be allowed to factionalize it.

The lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on Works and Transport, said the stakeholders were satisfied with the decision of the national leadership of the party removing the former Chairman, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, adding that his conduct was unbecoming.

The lawmaker also assured the residents of the Constituency of the readiness of the AbdulRasaq AbdulRahman's administration to commence construction work on the Osi - Obbo-Aiyegunle road as approved in the 2021 Appropriation Bill and the completion of the KWASU Osi and Ilesha Baruba campus, as contained in the details of the N35bn bond, which the state government has got the approval of the State Assembly to secure.

The former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief J.B Ayeni, also lauded the resolution of the top hierarchy of the party sacking Bolarinwa and assured that the Ekiti local government APC would continue to be loyal to the Governor.

In his own address, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, a stalwart of the party in the local government reiterated the need why Ekiti Local Government residents must wholly stand by the AbdulRasaq AbdulRahman's administration. He mentioned infrastructural projects, such as the newly awarded Osi - Obbo-Aiyegunle road, among others as the reason why the governor deserved a second term.

Some of those who spoke glowingly about the AbdulRasaq AbdulRahman's administration and the new APC leadership in the state as led by Abdullahi Sanmari were, Alhaji Kunle Sulyman, Senator Makanjuola Ajadi, Senator S. Ajibola, among others.
