Gov. Abdulrazaq Bags Leadership’s ‘Governor Of The Year’ Award

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has been awarded as the Leadership Governor of the Year 2020 for his achievements in the state so far.

The media outlet made this known on page 8 of its Monday publication, recounted the governor’s achievements since assuming office in 2019.

According to the page of the publication, Governor Abdulrazaq has confronted the economic challenges of Kwara State through sheer determination, boldly enforcing fair representation and gender equality, and making it possible for the citizens of the state to feel the impact of governance.

The 22-paragraph article started by giving an account of the pathetic condition of state before the present administration took over.

It read: “Before he assumed office as the governor of Kwara State, all the state-owned tertiary institutions, except those of the state University, had embarked on a strike to protest over 13 months’ arrears of salary owed them by the previous administration in the state.

“The security of the state was also at the precipice as political thugs popularly referred to as ‘good boys’ were unleasing terror on the residents at will.

“The once vibrant state civil service, including the Local Government Administration, had virtually collapsed, with government paying workers’ salary in percentage for months while the government of the day watched things deteriorating helplessly.

“Before the inauguration of the Abdulrazaq administration, water pipes in Ilorin and other part of the state had gone dry— the five waterworks were not functioning.”

Not left unsaid was the deplorable state of education in Kwara State before the arrival of the present administration, adding that the state was blacklisted by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) for failing to pay counterpart funding.

“The administration has resumed payment of counterpart funding which now ensures free malaria care.

“It recently received 2.3million mosquito nets from Global Funds and was among the first states in the World Bank-NCDC regional disease surveillance systems enhancement to strengthen Nigeria aresponse to COVID-19.

“Despite the lean resources, the administration has recently engaged more professionals.” it added.
