150 Kwara Farmers Benefit Support From Cornelius Adebayo Foundation

No fewer than 150 Farmers in Kwara State benefited from the Cornelius Adebayo Foundation Farmers' empowerment program.

The program which includes distribution of twenty thousand Cashew seedlings, pump sprayers, and weed control chemicals for over 150 farmers within Isin, Ekiti, Irepodun and Oke-Ero Local Governments in Kwara State held at Chief C. O. Adebayo's residence in Oke-Okenigbin on Thursday.

The initiator of the program, Mr. Segun Adebayo said he decided to support farmers because farming is the major occupation of the people, saying the land is endowed in fertility but the people lack adequate provision of equipment they need.

He noted that he is playing his own part by procuring materials needed by the people to help improve productivity as the government can not do it alone.

Adebayo advised the youths to key into the program immediately by engaging in cashew farming to improve cashew production capacity in the area so as to put the federal constituency on the national map.

He emphasized that subsequent programs will include provision of tractors and other mechanized farm equipments that will help to ease the the stress in farming and also partner with Agro allied companies that will help them in getting sales for their farm produce.

Speaking at the occasion, is the chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Isin and Irepodun Local Government areas, Chief Dele Ogunbayo and Hon Aransiola Ojopagogo in their separate remarks commended Mr Segun Adebayo for initiating such a great program to promote agricultural production and empower the people in all the four local governments in the constituency.

They stressed that it is highly laudable as it is coming from a youth that is not currently holding any political post, adding that this indicates that if he is given the opportunity to be elected for a political post he will do greater people oriented programmes.

They therefore enjoined the beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the equipments and seedlings given to them in a way that would be productive so that the aim of their facilitator can be achieved.
