BREAKING: Court Remands Kwara Ex- Finance Commissioner In EFCC Custody

A Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin has remanded the immediate past Commissioner for Finance in Kwara state Ademola Banu and one other in EFCC custody pending the ruling on their bail applications.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC is prosecuting the Ex-Commissioner and two others on fraud related offences.

The arraignment of the accused persons commences after three separate adjournments.

Banu is facing a one count charge of conspiring with the Banker, Olanrewaju Adeniyi and his company Travellers Messanger Limited to launder the sum of 411 million naira belonging to the Kwara State Government.

Although, they all pleaded not guilty to the charges, counsel to EFCC Emeka Omewa requested that they be remanded in prison custody till the trial date.

The defence counsels objected the argument and expressed their readiness for the trial immediately.

They reffered the court to their bail applications stating that the alleged offences are bailable and the defendants will not jump the bail if granted.

Justice Babagana Ashigar however ruled that the defendants be remanded in EFCC custody and adjourned till 10th of next month to rule on their bail applications.
