Kwara First Lady Urges Mother's And Care Givers To Ensure Complete Vaccination Of Children In Kwara


Wife of the Kwara State Governor, Mrs Olufolake AbdulRazaq today flagged off Harmonized Primary Health Care Campaigns in Kwara State with a call on service providers, community leaders, media, mothers and care givers to do all they can to ensure complete vaccination of children.

At the event held at Oko-Erin area of Ilorin, Mrs AbdulRazaq explained that the flag off revolves around series of health interventions aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality among our Women and Children.



She expressed the resolve of the present administration to make healthcare services available to all citizens irrespective of their location and ensure the provision of vaccines for vaccine preventable diseases like poliomyelitis, measles and meningitis while improving and maintaining the health of women and children.

Mrs AbdulRazaq explained that the State Government had given the necessary support to the Primary Health Care activities since the inception of this administration as the government is poised to reverse the ugly trend of recurrent cases of communicable and non communicable diseases in the State.


The First Lady expressed happiness that state was already recording successes in the battle against the circulating Vaccine Derived Polio Virus as the last series of samples taken from the environmental sites turned out to be negative.

Mrs AbdulRazaq maintained that protecting the lives of mothers and children is one of the most urgent priorities of the administration of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, saying that most of the maternal and child deaths and morbidity are avoidable if preventive measures are taken, and adequate care is available.


Also speaking, the Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Health, Mr Razaq Owolabi expressed the support of the House to efforts at delivering qualitative health care services in the state

Hon. Owolabi appealed to parents and guardians to always cooperate with caregivers anytime they show up in their respective houses for routine immunisation and other interventions.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Doctor Abimbola Folorunsho had disclosed that the Agency had stepped up its interventions across state with a view to stemming the cases of polio and other diseases.


Doctor Folorunsho commended the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for its support to reach different parts of the state to administer immunisation on children.
