Policeman Who Allegedly Killed Man In Kwara Arrested, Commissioner Confirms


The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lawon Ado has disclosed that a police officer, Sergeant Folorunsho Ademola accused of killing one Sule Abu in Kange Village of Shaare in Ifelodun local government area of the State, has been arrested.

Ado, who disclosed this a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dsp Okasanmi Ajayi, said that the officer is currently under investigation, and would be dismissed from the Police Force and charged to court if found culpable.

On Thursday, 22 March, Sergeant Ademola (Force No, 264783), attached to the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Kwara State Police command reportedly shot and killed Sule Abu in Kange Village, Share with his Ak 47 rifle without any justification.

The Police Commissioner, who frowned at this act, said it contradicts the directive of the Inspector General of Police that every officer of the Force must display professionalism always.

“Contrary to the Inspector General of Police directive on professionalism by policemen and women across the length and breadth of the country at all times, and by extension, the consequences of disobedience to extant laws on the use of fire arms by police officers.

“The officer has been arrested and currently under investigation, if found culpable, he will be dismissed from the Force and charged to court,” he said.

Ado warned police officers in the State to always be mindful of their responsibility of protecting lives and property, and not to take the live of any citizen unlawfully.

He also assured members of the public of the resolve of the Command to discharge its mandate in accordance to laid down rules of the country.
